About Our Siding Installation Service

New siding transforms your home's appearance while providing essential protection against weather, pests, and moisture. We install four premium siding options: vinyl, aluminum, James Hardie fiber cement, and Maibec natural cedar, each with distinct advantages.

Our approach starts with understanding your priorities: budget, aesthetics, maintenance preferences, and durability requirements. Then we recommend the material that best fits your needs and install it to manufacturer specifications.

Signs you need new siding: visible damage (cracks, holes, warping), frequent painting needs, mold or mildew growth, increasing heating/cooling bills, or simply wanting to update your home's appearance.

Consider the Full System

Siding is more than surface covering. Proper installation includes housewrap, flashing at windows and doors, and adequate ventilation. Cutting corners here leads to moisture problems that show up years later.

Choosing New Siding for Your GTA Home

A side-by-side look at vinyl, aluminum, fiber cement and cedar siding, what matters most in Ontario's climate, and what a quality installation should include.

Signs Your Siding Needs Replacing

Siding is your home's first line of defence against rain, wind, snow and sun. When it starts to fail, water can get behind it and into the wall assembly, where damage often goes unnoticed until it's serious.

  • Cracked, warped, buckled or loose panels
  • Fading or chalky surfaces that no longer clean up
  • Soft spots, rot or mould on wood siding or trim
  • Peeling paint inside the house on exterior walls
  • Drafts or rising heating and cooling costs
  • Gaps around windows, doors and corners

Comparing Siding Materials

There's no single best siding for every home. The right choice depends on your budget, the look you want, how much maintenance you're willing to do and how long you plan to stay. These are the materials we install most often.

  • Vinyl: the most budget-friendly option, low maintenance, available in many colours and profiles. Modern premium vinyl is thicker and more impact-resistant than older products.
  • Aluminum: durable, fire-resistant and doesn't rot. A traditional choice that can dent on impact but holds its finish well.
  • James Hardie fiber cement: very durable, fire-resistant, resists rot and pests, and holds paint well. It closely mimics the look of wood and is engineered for climates with harsh winters.
  • Maibec cedar: natural wood with unmatched warmth and character. Factory-finished options reduce maintenance, but wood still needs periodic care over its lifetime.

What Matters in Ontario's Climate

GTA homes face a wide temperature range, from humid summers in the 30s to winter cold well below −20°C, along with frequent freeze-thaw cycles. Siding expands and contracts with those swings, so materials must be installed to allow for movement. Panels nailed too tightly can buckle in summer heat; poorly lapped joints can let wind-driven rain in.

Moisture management is just as important as the siding itself. A proper weather-resistant barrier behind the cladding, correct flashing at windows and doors, and sealed penetrations keep water out of the wall even when rain gets past the outer layer.

Freeze-thaw cycles, wind-driven rain, summer UV and winter cold all test a wall. Good siding and a properly detailed barrier behind it handle all four.

Insulation and Energy Efficiency

New siding is an ideal opportunity to improve the thermal performance of your walls. Adding rigid foam insulation board or using insulated siding products can reduce heat loss through the studs and help with comfort and energy costs. While the amount of savings varies with each home, re-siding without addressing the wall underneath is a missed opportunity.

What a Quality Installation Includes

The quality of the installation determines how long new siding performs as much as the material does. Corners, trim and the details around windows and doors are where shortcuts show up first.

  • Removal of old siding and inspection of the sheathing beneath
  • Repair of any rotted or damaged wood before cladding
  • A weather-resistant barrier and proper flashing
  • Installation to manufacturer specifications so warranties remain valid
  • Custom-bent aluminum capping around windows and doors
  • Coordinated trim, soffit and fascia for a finished look
  • Thorough clean-up and debris removal

Completing the Exterior

Siding projects often work best alongside soffit, fascia and eavestrough upgrades. Doing them together means colours coordinate perfectly, trim details tie in cleanly and you only go through one installation period. If your soffit and fascia are older, it's worth assessing them at the same time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about siding installation services.

QWhat's the best siding material for Ontario weather?

All four options we offer handle GTA weather well. Vinyl is most affordable, aluminum is durable and low-maintenance, Hardie Board is fireproof and extremely durable, and Maibec cedar offers natural beauty.

QHow long does siding installation take?

Most homes are completed in 3–7 days depending on size and complexity. Weather can extend timelines.

QDo you remove old siding or install over it?

We typically remove old siding to inspect and repair the substrate. Installing over old siding can hide problems.

QCan I see examples of your work?

Yes! We maintain a portfolio of completed projects and can connect you with references in your area.

QWhich siding material lasts the longest?

Fiber cement and aluminum are among the most durable options, and quality vinyl also performs well for many years when installed correctly. Cedar can last a long time with regular maintenance. Lifespan depends heavily on installation quality and exposure.

QCan new siding be installed over old siding?

It's sometimes possible, but we generally recommend removing old siding so the sheathing can be inspected and any rot or moisture damage repaired. Covering over problems can trap moisture in the wall.

QWhat time of year is best for siding installation?

Siding can be installed for much of the year in the GTA, with spring through fall being the most comfortable season. Some materials and sealants have temperature limits, which we account for when scheduling.
